I. Interior photographer - John Dockray

A. What do they do?

John photographs exclusively for Shopfitters, Architects, Interior Designers & Allied Professions. He’s photographed French Connection, Samsung & Asda to name a few.

B. Why do I admire them?

I admire him as for 30 years he has maintained a really good, friendly, reliable relationship with old & new clients, which I think is key to being successful in any industry. He also will drive to any corner of the UK for a job no matter the distance.

C. How do they make money?

He charges a one off flat rate of £350 pounds for any job (within reason, for jobs that take multiple days he will charge more) and that covers everything (transport, equipment & his services). He has shown that charging a low rate & a friendly service results in being a lot more successful that charging lots of money and only getting a few jobs a year; this is largely down to getting a build a much larger network in the former technique.

II. Head of photographs collection at The National Portrait Gallery - Phillip Prodger

A. What do they do

Phillip oversees acquisitions, research, loan and display of photographs from the 19th century to the present. He also manages all the assistant curators who work in the photography department.

B. Why do I admire them?

They hold an important job; without their job, all the different people that go towards making an exhibition wouldn't connect together.

C. How do they make money?

Standard salary.
