Image from 'Nino'

I created a short film titled 'Nino' to experiment in creating the atmosphere I wanted my image to create.

I wanted to have no motion in the film to make the audience feel unnerved as they would be waiting for something to happen. Insted they are left with just the noises of the building & machinery around the scene.

I also colour graded the film to match the green / yellow tones of the image.

Georges Seurat: Le Bec du Hoc, Grandcamp 1885

After visiting the Impressionists in London exhibition at Tate Britain I became interested in the Impressionist and post-impressionist era. This led me to discover the work of Georges Seurat and the way he used pointillism, I started to see the similarities between Pointillism and Pixelation; Much like how through digital compression a computer algorithm will determine what colours make up an image, and then group those colours together into pixels: the grass in Seurat's painting "Le Bec du Hoc" Is not just different shades of green, Instead he has decided to use shades of orange, green, yellow, blue & pink.
